Job summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a Clinical Nurse II on a Per Diem basis for the 5 West transplant unit in Chapel Hill. This 15-bed unit cares for abdominal transplant, urology and plastic surgery patients with a nationally recognized transplant program.

The role emphasizes education, interprofessional collaboration and high-quality patient care, reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, and working onsite with rotating schedules.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
• One (1) year of relevant and current experience

Responsibilities

• Education - Identifies learning needs and attends education programs; uses patient education materials.
• Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes; discusses care with the interprofessional team.
• Implementation - Delivers care for patients with complex problems; performs bedside testing; follows policies.
• Leadership - Sets goals, supports collaboration, promotes cost-effective care.
• Patient Assessment - Gathers data and plans discharge needs; builds family relationships.
• Planning - Prepares and updates the plan of care with multidisciplinary resources.
• Research - Reads journals and shares ideas with staff for practice improvement.
