Job summary

UNC Health's 5 West unit provides specialized, evidence-based care for abdominal transplant, urology, and complex plastic surgery patients. The Registered Nurse position is a full-time, 36-hour per week role with a night shift, onsite in Chapel Hill, NC.

As part of a Beacon Award‑winning team, you will coordinate patient care using the nursing process, collaborate with a dedicated interdisciplinary team, and contribute to high-quality outcomes in a leading transplant program.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must enroll within four years and obtain a BSN within seven years of employment date.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Education – participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and others.
• Evaluation of care – identifies expected patient outcomes and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team.
• Implementation – provides competent care for patients with complex problems and coordinates care.
• Leadership – supports unit goals, facilitates collaboration, and promotes safe, cost‑effective care.
• Patient assessment – recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care and discharge planning.
• Planning – collaborates to update the plan of care and utilize multidisciplinary resources.
• Research – reads journals and brings ideas to the staff for assessment.
