Job summary

University Hospital in Newark, NJ is seeking a Patient Throughput Coordinator (RN) to optimize patient movement and discharge processes across multiple service lines. You will liaise with the ED, PACU, clinics, and referring agencies to ensure safe, timely transitions and compliant patient care.

Ideal candidates hold an NJ RN license with a Bachelors in Nursing and 5+ years in acute care, with BLS/ACLS. Epic experience is a plus, and strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills are

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in New Jersey is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting is required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Prior Epic experience is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, team building, and oral and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient transfers and movement across hospital units.
• Act as liaison among departments, referring agencies, hospitals, clinics and the ED.
• Ensure safe, EMTALA-compliant patient flow and capacity management.
• Support discharge planning and timely transitions for patients.
