Description:Unit is divided into a smaller section with 14 beds and a main section with 44 beds.Staffing ratios are 1 nurse to 4 patients.Electronic Medical Record system used is Cerner.Charge Nurse position is not required.Nurse Aides available on all shifts; 1 on night shift and mid shift, and 3-4 on day shift.Weekend commitment is every other weekend, totaling 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule.Holiday shifts are scheduled with permanent staff rotation.Scrub color is navy.Telemetry is monitored using Philips equipment.A monitor tech is available on the unit.Nurses are responsible for reading strips.Common drips include amiodarone, heparin, cardizem, fixed rate insulin, nitroglycerin, and dopamine for renal dosing only.Ventilators are not used, but BiPAP or CPAP may be utilized.Clientists or intensivists are available on call after hours.Respiratory therapy is available 24/7.Pharmacy services are not available around the clock; alternative options can be accessed after 10 PM.Shifts are 12 hours from 6 PM to 6 AM.Staff may need to float between different sections.Floor-specific orientation lasts for 6 hours.Common diagnoses in the smaller unit include surgical, orthopedic, and medical patients.The main section focuses on cardiac care and stepdown acuity, including patients post-cardiac catheterization, pacemaker, PCI, TAVR, CABG, sepsis, and respiratory distress.Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shift cancellations for the duration of the assignment.Charting is performed using the Cerner system.A BSN is not required for this position.The trauma level designation is not specified.Care setting is acute.
