Description:Guaranteed hours of 48.This is a 25-bed medical telemetry unit.Patients primarily include renal, urology, oncology, pulmonology, cardiology, and general medicine/surgery.The focus is on safety and quality measures.Compliance with documentation processes related to central lines, Foley catheters, Clostridium difficile, and other healthcare-associated infections is essential.Teamwork and support from charge nurses are highly valued.Technical staff are also present on the unit.Equipment used includes EKG machines, bladder scanners, sit-to-stand devices, hoyer lifts, hover mats, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis.The documentation system in use is Meditech-EBC.Scheduling requires at least every third weekend, three shifts per week.Floating to similar units may be necessary.Patient experience is prioritized with a focus on nurse explanations and courtesy.Daily nurse leader rounds are conducted with each patient, including a pre-round to establish rapport.Post-rounds are held to coach and recognize staff based on patient feedback.Monitoring includes whiteboard use, room tidiness, safety, and quality measures.Awards and recognition for units are available.This unit features unencumbered charge nurses and clinical educators.Staff is known for experience and a focus on team dynamics.New equipment, including a robotic surgery platform, is utilized.The unit is highly regarded for its innovative practices.
