Job summary

The role includes charting, medication administration, admissions/discharges, and maintaining a warm, calm unit environment while providing leadership to the nursing team and ensuring patient safety.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with a current unencumbered state license.
• English language proficiency (read/write/speak).
• Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Knowledge of nursing practices and regulations pertaining to nursing care facilities.
• Long Term Care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants.
• Plan shift services, programs and activities with assigned staff.
• Admit, transfer and discharge residents as required.
• Provide leadership to nursing personnel on the unit/shift.
• Complete and file required records for admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Receive and transcribe physician orders; document nursing notes.
• Chart nurse notes reflecting care and resident response.
• Perform routine charting and incident reporting per policy.
• Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
• Maintain good rapport with inter-departmental personnel and foster a warm, calm unit environment.
• Receive and give nursing reports at shift changes and rounds with physicians as needed.
• Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feedings, dressings, and ROM exercises.
• Monitor safety in equipment use and protect resident privacy and HIPAA.
