Job summary

Lifepoint Health's Rutherford Regional Health System in North Carolina is seeking an RN Stroke & Chest Pain Quality Coordinator to lead accreditation activities and drive quality improvements for stroke and chest pain care.

You will collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, EMS, and clinical teams to ensure timely, evidence-based care and ongoing readiness for surveys and certifications, while advancing program development and staff education.

Qualifications

• RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or compact)
• Associate's degree in nursing required
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in neuroscience, cardiology, stroke, and/or chest pain

Responsibilities

• Lead Stroke & Chest Pain Program with oversight of accreditation and certification requirements.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, EMS, telemedicine, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory, accreditation and quality standards.
• Chair monthly Stroke & Chest Pain Committee meetings and drive accountability and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate program development, staff education, performance improvement initiatives, and adoption of best practices.
• Conduct daily chart reviews and communicate findings to ensure quality measures and core metrics are met.
• Prepare and participate in Joint Commission and State Health Department surveys and readiness activities.

Our Stroke & Chest Pain Quality Coordinator is a key leader in advancing clinical excellence and improving outcomes for patients experiencing stroke and cardiac events. This role is ideal for an experienced RN who is passionate about quality improvement, regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Working closely with physicians, nursing leaders, and clinical teams, you'll monitor quality metrics, support certification standards, identify opportunities for improvement, and help ensure patients receive timely, evidence-based care. This position is designed for a nurse leader who will provide oversight, direction, and vision for these programs while serving as a visible, confident spokesperson during meetings, surveys, and community forums.

How You'll Contribute

An RN Stroke & Chest Pain Quality Coordinator who excels in this role:

• Serves as the Stroke and Chest Pain Program Leader and Coordinator, with oversight of all accreditation and certification requirements.
• Collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, EMS, telemedicine partners, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards.
• Leads, chairs, and facilitates monthly Stroke and Chest Pain Committee meetings, driving accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinates and advances stroke and chest pain programs, including program development, staff education, performance improvement initiatives, and implementation of best practices.
• Conducts daily concurrent chart reviews, communicating findings with nursing units and providers to ensure all quality measures and core metrics are met.
• Reviews, analyzes, trends, and reports performance data monthly, ensuring accurate and timely entry into approved databases and reporting tools.
• Leads preparation for and participation in Joint Commission and State Health Department surveys, including mock surveys, tracer activities, action plans, and ongoing readiness.
• Assists with the development, revision, and implementation of policies, protocols, clinical practice guidelines, and standardized order sets.
• Supports high-quality nursing documentation and quality initiatives within the electronic health record (EHR).
• Develops and delivers education across multiple venues, including staff education, provider meetings, committees, and community outreach.
• Serves as the clinical point of contact for telemedicine stroke and chest pain services.
• Acts as a liaison to the medical community, EMS, and external partners to promote program awareness and best practices.
• Leads and supports performance improvement initiatives using PDSA and other quality improvement methodologies.
• Provides patient and family education related to stroke and chest pain care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Education & Licensure

Associate's degree in nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred Applicants should have a current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
