Job summary

Sumter Health & Rehabilitation in York, AL, seeks an experienced RN Staff Development Coordinator to lead clinical education, orientation, and ongoing staff development for RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other direct-care staff.

You will develop competency-based training, conduct skills validations, ensure regulatory compliance, and support survey readiness while coaching nurses to strengthen resident care and team performance.

Qualifications

• Current Alabama RN license in good standing – REQUIRED.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Previous nursing experience required.
• Staff development, nursing education, clinical training, or nursing leadership experience preferred.
• Skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, or post-acute care experience preferred.
• Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of nursing standards and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent teaching, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate orientation and onboarding for newly hired nursing staff.
• Provide clinical education and training for RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other direct-care staff.
• Conduct skills validations and competency assessments.
• Coordinate required in-services, annual education, and regulatory training.
• Maintain accurate training, certification, and competency records.
• Coach and mentor nursing staff to strengthen clinical performance.
• Support survey readiness, infection prevention, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
