Job summary

Mercy Cedar Rapids is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to support patient-centered care. You will work with the unit team to identify clinical problems, develop plans, and educate patients and families.

The role requires safe, accurate, and independent practice following Mercy standards and policies. The position emphasizes communication, critical thinking, documentation, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• RN with acute care experience preferred.
• BSN preferred as per education section.
• Demonstrates ability to educate patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Communicate accurate clinical information at handoffs and with patients, families, and coworkers.
• Assess, plan, intervene, coordinate and evaluate based on patient plan of care.
• Continuously assess patient and family needs to provide patient-centered care.
• Demonstrate critical thinking to implement the plan of care and nursing procedures.
• Maintain real-time documentation for the healthcare team per policy.
• Lead by example to foster a healthy work environment and meet goals.
• Respect patient dignity and maintain a professional environment.
• Direct licensed and non-licensed staff in providing patient care.
• Communicate effectively across age groups and with language/cultural considerations.
• Respond to emergencies within scope of practice; promote safety.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team and provide ongoing education to patients and families.
• Remain current on evidence-based practice and relevant protocols.
