Job summary

Mercy Cedar Rapids is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our patient-centered care team. The role emphasizes safe, accurate, efficient and independent care aligned with Mercy’s standards and procedures. You will collaborate with unit staff to identify clinical problems, plan care, and educate patients and families.

The ideal candidate holds an BSN, Iowa or compact-state RN license, and BLS certification. This position supports weekend shifts with a 24-hour weekly schedule and includes a sign-on

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Iowa or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter training completed.

Responsibilities

• Communicates accurate and clinically relevant information to patients, families and co-workers at handoffs and other times as needed.
• Performs competent assessment, planning, intervention, coordination and evaluation based on the patient plan of care.
• Continuously assesses patient and family needs to provide patient-centered care.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and judgment to implement the plan of care and nursing procedures.
• Maintains real-time documentation of nursing care per hospital policies.
