Job summary

Homewood Living Plum Creek is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide leadership and supervision on the shift. You will monitor resident health, coordinate with physicians, and ensure staffing to deliver high-quality care while maintaining confidentiality.

The role requires strong communication, staff coordination, and the ability to act decisively in emergencies. You will also manage documentation, mentor staff, and communicate with families and management.

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license in the state providing resident care.
• Two to four years' supervisory experience in geriatric long-term care preferred.
• Compassion, empathy for seniors, and strong communication skills.
• Management abilities including judgment, coaching, and delegation concepts.
• Ability to explain care plans to residents, families and staff clearly.
• Capable of quick, decisive action in emergencies and with resident behavior.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership on the assigned shift and supervise nursing staff.
• Ensure proper staffing to deliver quality care and cover call-offs.
• Coordinate with attending physicians and prepare resident charts.
• Monitor resident health problems and communicate with physicians.
• Document observations and update care plans as needed.
• Oversee new nurse orientation and ensure family communication.
• Act as liaison among residents, families, and physicians; explain orders.
• Prepare daily reports and communicate significant information to supervisors.
• Provide direct care as necessary and model nursing practice standards.
• Implement emergency plans and assume manager-on-duty responsibilities.
