Job summary

We are seeking dedicated nurses for the 14-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at UAB St. Vincent's East. The role supports post-operative and critically ill surgical patients, with continuous monitoring in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.

Provide direct nursing care, implement care plans, coordinate care with multiple disciplines, and manage discharge planning with the healthcare team. Eligible positions offer comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 month of hire.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed by Alabama Board of Nursing before hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care per hospital policies and procedures.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans and communicate patient status.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care as primary facilitator.
• Follow physician and nursing orders and ensure discharge planning needs are met.

On our 14-bed Surgical ICU (SICU) at UAB St. Vincent's East, we specialize in caring for post-operative and critically ill surgical patients. Supported by the Central Monitoring Unit, we provide continuous cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.
