Job summary

The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at UAB St. Vincent’s East is an 8-bed unit focused on post-operative care for CABG and complex cardiovascular surgeries.

You will work with advanced cardiac support devices and hemodynamic monitoring in a setting that supports staff growth while delivering high-quality care. You will implement care plans, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and assist with discharge planning, contributing to a collaborative, patient-centered environment that values

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire, American Heart Association/Red Cross accepted.
• ALS within 6 months of hire, American Heart Association/Red Cross accepted.
• RN license from Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor and communicate patient condition.
• Serve as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.

Education

Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing

Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing

Position Overview

The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at UAB St. Vincent’s East is an 8-bed unit specializing in post-operative care for patients recovering from coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and other complex cardiovascular surgeries. You will have an opportunity to work with advanced cardiac support devices and procedures like hemodynamic monitoring, providing a setting where staff can grow and thrive while delivering high quality care.

Job Description

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.
