Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The role involves direct patient care, coordinating multi-disciplinary plans, and implementing physician orders during night shifts.

This full-time position offers a night schedule (3 twelve-hour shifts), PRN options, and a bonus potential up to $20,000 for qualifying night positions, plus benefits such as paid time off and parental leave.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date required.
• Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire date required.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care per policies and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; communicate patient condition.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care for well‑coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.


• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.


• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.


• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.


• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.


• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND Required professional licensure at time of hire.
