Job summary

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital is seeking a dedicated ICU RN to provide advanced nursing care in a Surgical ICU setting. This full-time, day-shift role demands strong assessment skills and the ability to respond quickly to changing patient conditions.

The ideal candidate will hold an Alabama RN license (or valid multistate license), BLS certification, and be prepared to meet unit-specific requirements such as ACLS, NRP, PALS, and TNCC where applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved nursing program with mandatory licensure requirements.
• Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate license (as applicable).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC may be required for designated units.

Days

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients, including complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.

• Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to rapidly changing patient conditions.

• Operates and interprets specialized medical equipment and monitors, including cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic systems.

• Responds to emergencies with evidence-based, life-saving interventions and preplanned protocols when physicians are unavailable.

• Assesses patient needs, develops individualized care plans, evaluates outcomes, and advocates for patients and families.

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, serves in leadership or educational roles, and supports unit and hospital goals.

• Coordinates care, delegates appropriately, documents accurately, and ensures compliance with regulatory and evidence-based standards.

• Demonstrates compassionate, age-appropriate care while maintaining legal awareness, patient rights, and a therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current State of Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license

• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

• ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas.

Experience

• 1 year experience required unless approved by AVP level or above; New Graduate RNs may be considered.
