Job summary

Brookwood Baptist Health's Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking an ICU RN for full-time night shift (three 12s) to care for critically ill adults. You will monitor patients, interpret data, adjust care plans, and collaborate with physicians and the nursing team to ensure safety and outcomes.

The ideal candidate has an Alabama RN license, BLS, 1 year of acute care experience (2+ preferred), and a commitment to evidence-based practice and patient advocacy during life-supporting interventions.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing; meet Baptist Health competency requirements.
• Maintains current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate license.
• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• Must have at least 1 year of RN experience in an acute care facility; 2+ preferred.

Night Shift

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients requiring complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.

• Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to changing patient conditions.

• Operates, monitors, and adjusts specialized medical equipment and interprets data from monitoring systems.

• Responds to emergencies using established nursing standards, protocols, and life‑saving interventions.

• Assesses patient needs, develops and revises individualized care plans, and evaluates patient outcomes.

• Advocates for patients and families while ensuring age‑appropriate care across the lifespan.

• Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams and may serve as charge nurse, preceptor, or educator.

• Documents care accurately, delegates tasks appropriately, and ensures compliance with evidence‑based practice and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current State of Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license
• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience

• Must have at least 1 year of RN experience in an acute care facility. 2 years or more is preferred.
