Job summary

Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our Night Shift team. This full-time position requires coverage on three 12-hour shifts per week, delivering advanced nursing care to critically ill patients in a high-acuity environment.

You will collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, advocate for patients and families, and participate in ongoing education and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Current Alabama RN licensure or valid eNLC multistate license.
• BLS/Healthcare Provider certification is required.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience in an acute care setting; 2+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care for critically ill patients with high-acuity needs.
• Interpret monitoring data and adjust care plans with clinical judgment.
• Operate and monitor critical care equipment and respond to alarms.
• Respond to emergencies following nursing standards and protocols.
• Assess patient needs, document care, and evaluate outcomes.

Night Shift

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients requiring complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.

• Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to changing patient conditions.

• Operates, monitors, and adjusts specialized medical equipment and interprets data from monitoring systems.

• Responds to emergencies using established nursing standards, protocols, and life‑saving interventions.

• Assesses patient needs, develops and revises individualized care plans, and evaluates patient outcomes.

• Advocates for patients and families while ensuring age‑appropriate care across the lifespan.

• Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams and may serve as charge nurse, preceptor, or educator.

• Documents care accurately, delegates tasks appropriately, and ensures compliance with evidence‑based practice and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current State of Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license
• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience

• Must have at least 1 year of RN experience in an acute care facility. 2 years or more is preferred.
