Job summary

Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking an ICU RN for a full-time, day-shift role with three 12-hour shifts. The ICU RN provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients, using clinical judgment and monitoring equipment to anticipate changes and respond quickly.

Collaboration with physicians and teams is essential to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. The position requires Alabama RN licensure (or eNLC), current BLS certification, and a minimum of 1 year in an acute care

Qualifications

• RN license active in Alabama or eNLC in good standing.
• Current BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience in an acute care facility; 2+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients requiring complex assessments and high-intensity interventions.

• Operates and interprets data from monitoring systems and specialized medical equipment.

• Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, may serve as charge nurse, preceptor, or educator.
• Documents care accurately and ensures compliance with standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients requiring complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring.

• Uses clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to changing patient conditions.

• Operates, monitors, and adjusts specialized medical equipment and interprets data from monitoring systems.

• Responds to emergencies using established nursing standards, protocols, and life-saving interventions.

• Assesses patient needs, develops and revises individualized care plans, and evaluates patient outcomes.

• Advocates for patients and families while ensuring age-appropriate care across the lifespan.

• Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams and may serve as charge nurse, preceptor, or educator.

• Documents care accurately, delegates tasks appropriately, and ensures compliance with evidence-based practice and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current State of Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license

• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Experience

• Must have at least 1 year of RN experience in an acute care facility. 2 years or more is preferred.
