Job summary

BayCare is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at St. Joseph's South in Riverview, FL. This full-time role requires a current RN license, nursing degree, and 1 year of acute care RN experience.

Shift is 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM with every other weekend and on-call as needed. Applicants should possess BLS and ACLS certifications. The PCU RN provides direct patient care, coordinates with the care team, and participates in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

• RN license is required.
• Diploma/Associate/Bachelor in Nursing is required.
• 1 year RN experience in an Acute Care setting.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Care for PCU patients in a hospital setting using nursing process and standards.
• Delegate tasks to other health care team members.
• Monitor patient vitals and assessments and document appropriately.
• Respond to medical emergencies for critical patients.
• Coordinate discharge planning and referrals as needed.

Requirements:

• RN (Registered Nurse) License
• Diploma, Associate's, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Nursing
• 1-year RN experience in an Acute Care setting
• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

The Registered Nurse - PCU responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of PCU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
• Professional accountability and development
