Job summary

BayCare in Tampa, FL seeks a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Surgical PCU. You will deliver compassionate care in a high-acuity unit, utilizing nursing processes and collaborating with the care team.

The role requires an RN license, nursing degree, and at least 1 year of acute care experience. BLS is required; ACLS preferred. In-person shift with every other weekend work and on-call not required.

Qualifications

• RN license and nursing degree required.
• At least 1 year RN experience in acute care.
• BLS from ARC or AHA is required.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Demonstrated professional accountability.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside nursing in Cardiac Surgical PCU.
• Care for PCU patients per nursing process and standards.
• Delegate nursing tasks to healthcare team as needed.
• Monitor patient vitals and document assessments.
• Identify changes in patient condition promptly.
• Respond to medical emergencies for critical patients.
• Coordinate discharge planning and referrals.
• Support patient education and emotional needs.

Positions details:

• Location: St. Joseph's Hospital – Cardiac Surgical PCU – Tampa, Florida
• Status: Full Time
• Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• On Call: No
• Always in person

Requirements:

• RN (Registered Nurse) License
• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Higher in Nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor’s in Nursing
• 1-year RN experience in an Acute Care setting
• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Preferred Certification: ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

The Registered Nurse – Cardiac Surgical PCU responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of PCU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team
• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.
• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition
• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge
• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
• Professional accountability and development
