Job summary

BayCare Health System in Clearwater, FL, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the ICU in Polk County facilities. This full-time, in-person role supports our MICU, CV ICU, and other critical care units across the BayCare network.

The RN will provide expert care in a hospital setting, monitor patient vitals, and collaborate with the health care team to ensure optimal outcomes. Day or night shifts available, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and career growth.

Qualifications

• RN License required
• Diploma, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• 1 year ICU experience in an Acute Care setting
• BLS certification (American Red Cross or AHA)
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association)

Responsibilities

• Care for ICU patients using the nursing process and clinical standards
• Delegate patient care activities to health care team members
• Provide care through recovery in critical care
• Monitor, record, and report patient vitals and assessments to the care team
• Identify subtle or sudden changes in patient condition
• Respond to medical emergencies for critical patients
• Coordinate and document discharge planning and referrals for continuity of care
• Maintain high emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience and simplify medical concepts

Positions Options:

• Locations: Polk County, Florida

• Specialty: Medical/Surgical, Cardiovascular and Neuroscience

• Full Time hours are 3 - 12 hour shifts per week and every other weekend

• Day Shift - 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM

• Night Shift - 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM

Requirements:

• RN (Registered Nurse) License

• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing

• 1-year experience in the ICU in an Acute Care setting

• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association

• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

The Registered Nurse – ICU responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards

• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team

• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care

• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.

• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition

• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients

• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge

• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
