Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – ICU for our Pinellas County units. The nurse will deliver critical care nursing in a fast-paced environment, ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes.

In this full-time in-person role, you’ll work 3–12 hour shifts with day or night options and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidates hold an RN license with ICU experience in acute care, BLS and ACLS certifications, and a commitment to compassionate patient

Qualifications

• RN license is required.
• ICU experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Basic life support (BLS) and advanced certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for ICU patients using nursing process.
• Monitor patient vitals, update care team, and document changes.
• Delegate tasks to health care team as appropriate.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate discharge planning.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families to explain care.

Positions Options:

• Locations: Pinellas County, Florida

• Specialty: Medical/Surgical, Cardiovascular and Neuroscience

• Full Time hours are 3 - 12 hour shifts per week and every other weekend

• Day Shift - 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM

• Night Shift - 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM

Requirements:

• RN (Registered Nurse) License

• Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor's or Higher in Nursing

• 2-year experience in the ICU in an Acute Care setting

• BLS certification with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association

• ACLS certification with the American Heart Association

The Registered Nurse – ICU responsibilities and skills:

• Works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards

• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team

• Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care

• Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.

• Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition

• Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients

• Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge

• High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient
