Job summary

Southern Ohio Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit. The role involves assessing patients, planning and implementing care, and coordinating with the health team in a night-shift, full-time capacity.

You will contribute to discharge planning, educate patients and families, and ensure compliance with unit policies and procedures. Ohio RN licensure, BLS and ACLS timely completion are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
• Licensed to practice as an RN in Ohio required.
• BLS within 90 days of hire required.
• ACLS within 1 year of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Completes nursing assessment of patients and documents appropriately on patient record.
• Develops, evaluates and updates the plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient.
• Communicates and collaborates with physicians and other health team members in developing a plan of care.
• Initiates, manages, and participates in discharge planning process.
• Implements, delegates, and coordinates patient care.
• Facilitates patient/family teaching as appropriate.
• Participates in hourly rounding and bedside shift report.
• Answers call lights and responds to patient needs.
• Performs total patient care.
• Pre-cleans, decontaminates and transports contaminated instruments according to policy.
• Performs intermediate-level disinfection and/ or high level disinfection per the Instructions for Use (IFUs) by the manufacture.
• This includes ensuring the scopes or probes used within the department are cleaned, disinfected, maintained and stored per the IFUs
• Performs other duties as assigned.
