Job summary

Phoenix Children's in Phoenix, AZ seeks a PRN Patient Placement Coordinator (RN) to coordinate admissions and transfers and to serve as the frontline voice for families and providers seeking information about hospital services.

This role requires an active RN license and 2–3 years of ER experience; no new grads. You will collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to move patients efficiently while maintaining exceptional telephone etiquette and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• RN license required; no new grads.
• Minimum 2–3 years of Emergency Room experience.
• PRN position.

Responsibilities

• Manages requests for transfers and direct admissions, facilitates provider communication.
• Collects intake data from ED, physician offices, Phoenix Children's clinic, referring facilities.
• Coordinates acceptance calls and documents them, with focus on quality and customer service.
• Collaborates to determine patient benefits/eligibility.
• Manages ED referrals and communicates incoming referrals to ED.
• Triages and prioritizes patient information and acuity using clinical judgment.
• Knows growth and development and care of patients of all ages.
• Manages bed board and escalates capacity issues.
• Works with nursing units to identify best bed placement.
• Reviews and plans all scheduled admissions daily.
• Collaborates with admitting, EVS, case management to ensure timely admissions and positive experience.
• Excellent telephone etiquette.
• Clear communication and multi-tasking; transcribe info into database.
• Track barriers in patient flow and suggest solutions.
• Performs miscellaneous job duties.
