Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical / surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
• BLS or BCLS certification within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
• ACLS within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
• PALS required within 90 days if pediatric care is included in scope of services.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA Health.
• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status per facility policies to include cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort, and mental status.
• Interpret information from noninvasive and invasive monitors.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care and implement it.
• Communicate patient status throughout the perianesthesia continuum; provide pain and comfort management; administer medications safely.
• Maintain wound integrity, tissue perfusion, and systemic balance; protect patient from infection.
• Coordinate with teams; provide education and involve patient/family; ensure rights, privacy, and ethical care.
