Job summary

HCA Florida Palms West Hospital is seeking an RN Preadmissions PRN to evaluate patients prior to surgery, educate families, and prepare patients for the perioperative process. You will work within a dynamic interdisciplinary team in the operating room, ensuring patient safety and high-quality care.

The role requires critical thinking, rapid response to emergencies, and adherence to universal protocols, with on-call duties during select non-business hours.

Qualifications

• RN must be licensed in the state of Florida or a U.S. state with eligibility for licensure in Florida.
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• 1 year nursing experience required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing or higher is required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients preoperatively and prepare them for surgery.
• Educate patients and families about the perioperative process.
• Perform preoperative medications administration and IV therapy per protocol.
• Participate in surgical site verification, briefing, timeout and debriefing per hospital policy.
• Monitor patient condition and respond to emergencies during the perioperative period.
• Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care in collaboration with the surgical team.
• Document changes in patient condition and care provided accurately throughout shift.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in patient safety and workflow.
