Job summary

Providence in Seattle is seeking a registered nurse to join its postpartum lactation team as a Lactation Consultant. This full-time day-shift role centers on compassionate patient care, teaching new mothers, and coordinating care within the unit.

Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, discharge preparation, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support breastfeeding goals and family education.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Washington RN License upon hire.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) upon hire.
• NRP certification (American Academy of Pediatrics) upon hire.
• 1 year nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects pertinent assessment data and interprets it to identify patient needs.
• Develops, reviews, and revises an individualized care plan with measurable outcomes.
• Evaluates patient response and documents changes in condition.
• Uses the nursing process to teach and document teaching.
• Prepares for discharge/transfer and documents the process.
• Delivers patient care based on pathophysiology and nursing principles.
• Considers patient age in assessment and care decisions.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians and coworkers; participates in rounds.
• Documents complete information on chart forms and reports to the oncoming shift.
