Job summary

SoftPath Medical is seeking an experienced RN for a Postpartum/GYN unit in Macon, GA. The nurse will provide direct postpartum and newborn care, including assessment, IV management, and care coordination with the care team.

Minimum 2 years postpartum RN experience is required. BLS, ACLS, NRP, BCR, and fetal monitoring certifications are expected. The unit operates 24/7 with telemetry, EPIC EMR, and robust support from physicians, residents, and patient care staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for postpartum and GYN patients
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and outcomes
• Assist with VBAC, vaginal deliveries, and C-section care as applicable
• Support CNAs, unit secretary, and transport team to maintain patient flow

Unit Information

• Beds: 2
• Minimum Experience Required: 2 years Postpartum RN experience
• First-time travelers accepted: Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses

• Vaginal and C-section deliveries; occasional overflow hysterectomies

Patient Ratios

• RN: 1:3-4 couplets
• CNA: 2-3 per shift

Department Support

• CNA duties include vital signs, glucose checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting with turning, hourly rounding, and patient transport (transport team available); also obtains blood from blood bank
• Unit secretary available 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; house-wide call secretary from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• Charge nurse may have patient assignments
• Phlebotomy mostly performed by lab; nurses draw from CVLs
• No dedicated IV/VAT team, but a PICC team is available
• Resource nurses include discharge nurses and a resource team that floats to all units
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• Hospitalists available 24/7
• Intensivists available 24/7
• Central Telemetry Unit for monitoring
