Job summary

Origin Travel Nurses is seeking a PCU/Step Down Float Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract in Olympia, WA. The role involves floating between units, caring for ER boarded patients, telemetry, and medical-surgical cases, with a focus on adaptability and patient safety during night shifts.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of charge nurse experience, an active RN license (compact), ACLS and NIHSS certifications, and EPIC charting proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of charge nurse experience.
  • Must hold a valid RN license; compact license required at submission.
  • ACLS and NIHSS certifications are required.
  • Experience with telemetry and multiple patient care environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient care with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6 depending on unit acuity.
  • Perform core charge nurse duties including staffing and bed flow coordination.
  • Administer BiPAP/CPAP, blood products, telemetry, and central line care.
  • Ensure patient safety through monitoring and timely interventions.

Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Job Description

The PCU/Step Down Float Registered Nurse will work in a team to meet the needs of the institution, floating between various units and managing diverse patient populations including ER boarded patients, telemetry, and medical-surgical cases. The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to handle varying acuities across departments.

Responsibilities
  • Manage patient care with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6 depending on unit acuity.
  • Perform core charge nurse duties on smaller units, including staffing management, bed flow coordination, and general unit oversight.
  • Participate in the administration of care including BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, and central line care.
  • Ensure the overall safety and well-being of patients through effective monitoring and interventions.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Minimum of 3 years of charge nurse experience is required.
  • Must have valid RN license; compact license must be in hand at submission.
  • Experience in telemetry and various patient care environments is preferred.
  • ACLS and NIHSS certifications are required.
  • Experience with EPIC charting system is a must.
