Job summary

Origin Travel Nurses seeks a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit assignment. This 13-week contract involves night shifts (3x12-hour, 18:00–16:30) and emphasis on high-quality patient care in a PCU setting.

The RN will monitor patients, administer medications, and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes, with Epic charting mandatory and a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with prior charge experience.
• Active RN license; compact license preferred.
• ACLS and BLS certifications with NIHSS preferred.
• Experience using Epic charting system is required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and care for patients in PCU with 1:4 ratio.
• Administer medications and monitor treatment effectiveness.
• Educate patients and families about conditions and care.
• Maintain accurate records in Epic and collaborate with the team.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) provides high-quality care to patients in a critical setting. The nurse is responsible for patient monitoring, administration of medications, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patient conditions in a PCU setting with a patient ratio of 1:4.
• Manage care for diverse patient populations, including adults and geriatrics.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor for effectiveness.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health conditions.
• Maintain accurate patient records using the Epic charting system.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years' nursing experience with previous charge experience.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Current Registered Nurse license required; compact license must be in hand at submission.
• Experience with the Epic charting system is mandatory.
