Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Main Street is hiring an RN PACU. The role requires weekdays only—no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule is subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

The RN PACU provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients emerging from anesthesia, with assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in preparation for discharge.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Active RN license in the state.
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS if required by the center.
• 2 years experience in PACU or critical care preferred.
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Main Street is hiring an RN PACU. The role requires weekdays only—no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule is subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

The PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of their condition, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. The RN may assist physicians in procedure rooms with tasks such as conscious sedation and sterile techniques as appropriate. The RN will provide comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
• Active RN license in the state

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of PACU or critical care experience required
• Experience with post‑operative patients across multiple specialties preferred (e.g., Orthopedics, ENT, GI, General Surgery, Ophthalmology)
• Pre‑op or OR experience is a plus
• Familiarity with sedation recovery protocols and discharge criteria
