Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Main Street is seeking a RN PACU to support postoperative patient care. The unit features 5 OR rooms and 2 treatment rooms, with a focus on outpatient procedures across Bariatrics, Gastroenterology, General, GYN, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Spine, Urology, ENT and Orthopedics.

Position is weekdays-only with no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings or later evenings may be required; schedules may change with the surgical flow.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited RN school.
  • Active RN license in the state.
  • BLS and ACLS required; PALS if required by the center.
  • 2 years experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
  • Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
  • Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient needs.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuity and quality nursing care for all patients in PACU with continual evaluation.
  • Assist physicians in procedure rooms and monitor conscious sedation with sterile technique.
  • Provide total care from anesthesia emergence to discharge preparation.

RN PACU

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Main Street is hiring a RN PACU. We have 5 OR rooms and 2 treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Bariatrics, Gastroenterology, General, GYN, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Spine, Urology, ENT, Orthopedics. Position requires weekdays only—no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

Responsibilities

The PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. May assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques as deemed appropriate. Will provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation; assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
  • Active RN license in the state.
  • BLS and ACLS required; PALS if required by the center.
  • 2 years experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.

Required Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of PACU or critical care experience required.
  • Experience with post-operative patients across multiple specialties preferred (e.g., Orthopedics, ENT, GI, General Surgery, Ophthalmology).
  • Pre-op or OR experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with sedation recovery protocols and discharge criteria.
