Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Outpatient CDH Wound Care unit. This full-time daytime position involves delivering comprehensive nursing care, wound assessment, and patient education in an outpatient setting.

The role requires an Illinois RN license, a BSN, and at least one year of related experience. CPR/BLS is mandatory; PALS/ACLS requirements vary by unit with possible time to complete after hire. The department emphasizes quality, safety, and teamwork.

Qualifications

BSN required for all new hires after 01/01/2011.
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
One year of experience in similar role.
CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS).
CPR – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required in some areas or within 6 months after hire depending on unit.
CPR – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit or cost center.

Responsibilities

Nursing process—collects and analyzes data, develops an individualized plan of care, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward outcomes.
Directs care and determines utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
Involves patient/family in care, discharge planning and education.
Performs all aspects of patient care to optimize safety and reduce errors in line with National Patient Safety Goals.
Assesses and manages pain and educates patients and families on pain management.
Delivers effective hand-offs to the next provider and participates in on-call assignments.
