Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an RN Staff Nurse Outpatient to provide comprehensive nursing care in an outpatient setting. You will collect data, develop plans, and coordinate care while ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes.

The role emphasizes patient/family involvement, discharge planning, and effective communication during hand-offs. The position requires a BSN or higher and an Illinois RN license, with at least 1 year of experience in a similar role.

Qualifications

• BSN required for all new hires after 01/01/2011.
• RN license in Illinois.
• One year of experience in a similar role.
• CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS).
• CPR – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – varies by cost center.
• CPR – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – varies by cost center.

Responsibilities

• Nursing process: collect/analyze data, plan, implement, and evaluate outcomes.
• Direct care and coordinate use of any assistants in direct patient care.
• Involve patient/family in care, including teaching and discharge planning.
• Ensure patient safety and reduce healthcare errors per National Patient Safety Goals.
• Assess and manage pain; educate patient and family on pain management.
• Demonstrate effective hand-offs to the next provider.
• Assume on-call assignments.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois

One year of experience in similar role

CPR – Basic Life Support

CPR – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

CPR – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
