Description:This is an oncology unit with 19 private beds.The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6 on nights, with possible variations based on unit census.Nurse staffing is flexible, accommodating specific medication and therapy needs.Common patient diagnoses include lymphoma, leukemia, and other types of cancer.Nurses will administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy, following safety precautions.There is a Charge Nurse available 24/7; Charge Nurses may take assignments as needed.Patient Care Technicians are utilized on the unit, providing assistance based on patient census.Respiratory equipment management is coordinated with respiratory therapists where applicable.Telemetry monitoring is provided by a house-wide system.Self-scheduling is available, with a balanced schedule completed in a six-week timeframe.Weekend and holiday shifts are required on a rotating basis.There are no call or standby requirements.Traveling nurses may float within the nursing staff to offer support as needed.Documentation is conducted using an electronic medical record system.Experience in administering IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy medications is essential.Flexibility and strong communication skills are necessary for team collaboration.This role requires adherence to hospital policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
