Job summary

Mercy is seeking a nurse for a Nights, Full Time position in the Obstetrics and Mother Baby unit. The unit handles Well Newborn Care and Post Women’s Surgical patients, with a fast-paced environment and diverse caseload.

Nursing staff maintain competencies across Labor & Birth, Antepartum, and OB Emergency Department, and may float to meet patient care needs. The role requires graduation from an accredited nursing program and an active RN license in the state or compact licensure, plus BLS

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain competencies in Labor & Birth, Antepartum, and OB Emergency Department.
• May be assigned to float between departments based on patient care needs.
• Physically able to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds and stand/walk for long periods.

Overview

We are high-paced, high-energy unit specializing in Obstetrics and Mother Baby, Well Newborn Care along Post Women's Surgical unit. Within our unit we have: 40-MB rooms, 15-LDR rooms, 14-High Risk Antepartum, 8-bed OBED unit, 4-LIBC Birthing Suites, and 4-Pre Post Rooms 3-OR suites (where we circulate all of our own cases). We also have Full time Lactation Consultants who see both inpatient and outpatients. Mercy OKC is the leading delivering hospital in Oklahoma City and second leading in the Ministry. Our teams offer a comprehensive suite of services at the Love Family Women's Center. Nurses are expected to maintain competencies in Labor & Birth, Antepartum, and OB Emergency Department, and may be assigned to float between these departments based on patient care needs.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
• Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
• Physical requirements/demands: Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
• Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire. One or more certifications may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe
