Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Med Surg - Ortho Unit. In this Magnet®-recognized organization, you will deliver patient-centered care on a 36-hour weekly schedule with nights and every other weekend/holiday.

As part of a 37-bed surgical unit, you will assess, plan, intervene, and educate patients; collaborate with inter-professional teams; and maintain accurate records using our digital systems.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts (MA).
• 1+ years of RN experience preferred.
• BLS required; ACLS certification required in certain units.
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN; BSN within 4 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
• Communicate with health care team members, patients, and families.
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
• Assist leadership with quality improvement projects.
