Job summary

Carle Health’s Observation Unit in Chicago is seeking an RN to join a fast-paced, 43-bed unit providing acute care for cardiac, general surgery, and behavioral health patients with 24- to 48-hour stays. You will maintain a 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio and perform essential nursing duties while collaborating with physicians and the discharge nurse.

A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered for external applicants with RN > 1 year and a 3-year commitment.

Qualifications

• Certifications: BLS within 30 days.
• RN license required upon hire.
• Nursing diploma completed.

Responsibilities

• Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service.
• Maintains up-to-date documentation and develops care plans based on patient and family needs.
• Assess IV sites every 4 hours, start new IVs per policy, ensure patient safety and quality care.
• Collaborates with physicians, discharge nurse and ancillary team to achieve outcomes.
