Job summary

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Labor and Delivery Nurse for travel assignments to provide comprehensive care for mothers and newborns in the L&D setting. The role emphasizes applying nursing processes, clinical judgment, and adherence to standards in intrapartum and postpartum care.

Requirements include an active RN license in the state, L&D experience preferred, CPR certification, and health certificate.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license within the state of practice.
• One year of Labor and Delivery clinical experience within the last three years preferred.
• RNC-OB certification preferred.
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
• Current CPR if applicable.
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process and deliver patient care in the L&D setting.
• Monitor mothers’ vital signs and recognize signs of potential complications.
• Provide patient education and address psychosocial needs after delivery.
• Coordinate care for postpartum and newborns during recovery and transition to maternal-child care.

Job description

The Labor and Delivery Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care in the L&D Setting. The Labor and Delivery Nurse demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner, consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient and newborn care

The Labor and Delivery Nurse works with Mothers during the final stages of pregnancy helping with birthing, monitoring the Mother’s vital signs, and becoming astute in signs and symptoms of possible complications. The Labor and Delivery Nurse is involved in patient education and addressing the psychosocial needs of Mothers after delivery and demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care. The Labor and Delivery Nurse may also provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum patients and newborns during the recovery and postpartum period, ensuring safe transition from labor and delivery to maternal-child care.

• Current Registered Nurse license within the state of practice
