Job summary

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for travel assignments in Astoria, OR. The RN will provide care during the final stages of pregnancy, assist with birthing, monitor vitals, and educate mothers while addressing psychosocial needs.

Responsibilities include applying the nursing process, making clinical judgments, and coordinating patient care with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in state of practice.
• One year of Labor and Delivery clinical experience within last three years preferred.
• RNC-OB preferred.
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
• Current CPR if applicable.
• Current Health certificate per contract or state regulation.
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility and accountability for nursing process and patient care in L&D.
• Monitor maternal vital signs and assist in birthing and management of potential complications.
• Educate patients and address psychosocial needs after delivery; coordinate patient care.

The Labor and Delivery Nurse assumes responsibility andaccountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery ofpatient care in the L&D Setting. TheLabor and Delivery Nurse demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments inan effective and efficient manner with supervision.

The Labor and Delivery Nurse works with Mothers during thefinal stages of pregnancy helping with birthing, monitoring the Mother’s vitalsigns, and becoming astute in signs and symptoms of possiblecomplications. The Labor and DeliveryNurse is involved in patient education and addressing the psychosocial needs ofMothers after delivery and demonstrates critical thinking and performanceability in the coordination of patient care.Consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountablein managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patientcare.

• Current Registered Nurse license within the state ofpractice
• One year of Labor and Delivery clinical experience withinthe last three years preferred
• RNC-OB Preferred
