Job summary

HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital is seeking a Nurse Lactation Consultant for the Obstetrics Unit. You will provide clinical expertise and teaching to ensure high-quality care in a high-acuity environment with emphasis on post-hospital teaching.

Responsibilities include assessing lactation needs, implementing care plans for infant nutrition, and collaborating with the care team to educate patients, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure.
• Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
• Certification as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in lactation consulting required; previous nursing experience with mother-child preferred.
• Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient lactation needs.
• Implement a care plan to ensure adequate infant nutrition.
• Collaborate with other healthcare team members to provide patient, staff and community education and support.
• Instruct patients and families regarding lactation.
• Maintain and review patients’ records including posting tests and examination results.
• Administer medications in accordance with physician orders.
