Job summary

HCA Florida Trinity Hospital is seeking a Lactation Consultant Registered Nurse for the Obstetrics Unit. You will provide clinical expertise and teaching to ensure high-quality lactation care in a high-acuity setting, with emphasis on post-discharge teaching.

You will assess lactation needs, implement care plans for infant nutrition, and collaborate with the care team to educate patients, staff, and the community.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a Florida RN or eligible via compact licensure with active FL RN within 60 days of hire.
• Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
• Certification as an Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required.
• Minimum 2 years’ lactation consulting experience; mother-child nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient lactation needs based on unit care plans.
• Develop and implement care plans for infant nutrition.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to educate patients, staff and community.
• Instruct patients and families on lactation techniques and care.
• Maintain and review patient records, posting tests and results.
• Administer medications as ordered by physicians.

Job Summary And Qualifications

We are seeking a Lactation Consultant Registered Nurse for our Obstetrics Unit. You will provide clinical expertise and teaching to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care in a high acuity environment with emphasis on post hospital teaching. What you will do in this role

• You will assess patient lactation needs.
• You will implement a care plan to ensure adequate infant nutrition.
• Collaborate with other healthcare team members to provide patient, staff and community education and support.
• You will instruct patients and families regarding lactation.
• You will maintain and review patients’ records including posting tests and examination results.
• You will administer medications in accordance with physician orders.

Requirements

• Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.
• Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
• Certification as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in lactation consulting required; previous nursing experience with mother-child preferred.
• Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
