Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Lactation Consultant RN to champion breastfeeding education and support. You will educate new mothers, address complex breastfeeding issues, and collaborate with maternity staff to ensure consistent, evidence-based guidance.

As part of a supportive team, you will train peers, implement discharge teaching, and contribute to post-discharge lactation services, aligning with AAP guidelines and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program and hold an RN license.
• BSN preferred.
• 1+ year of nursing experience in Women's Services.

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding education to new mothers and families based on current AAP guidelines.
• Assist with management of patients with complex breastfeeding problems.
• Deliver lactation discharge teaching and resources for ongoing support.
• Educate within the Childbirth Education Program and consult post-discharge as needed.
• Develop policies and procedures within the Breastfeeding scope.
