Job summary

St. David’s North Austin Medical Center is seeking a Lactation Consultant RN to champion and guide the facility’s Breastfeeding Program. You will educate new mothers, support breastfeeding initiation and continuation, and train maternal nursing staff to ensure consistent, accurate information.

You will also develop discharge teaching resources and collaborate on childbirth education, aiming to improve patient outcomes and breastfeeding success post-discharge.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school with Nursing Diploma, Associate’s Degree or higher
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
• 1+ year of nursing experience in Women’s Services required

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding education to new mothers and families based on current AAP guidelines and recommendations
• Assist with management of patients with complex breastfeeding problems
• Provide lactation discharge teaching instruction and resources for ongoing lactation support
• Educate within the Childbirth Education Program and continue consults post-discharge
• Create policies and procedures within the Breastfeeding scope
