Job summary

St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, part of St. David’s HealthCare, is seeking a Lactation Consultant to promote breastfeeding initiation and continuation, educate new mothers, and support staff with consistent lactation guidance.

Qualifications

• Facilitate initiation and continuation of breastfeeding per current guidelines.
• Provide lactation education and support to patients and families.
• Train maternal staff to ensure consistent lactation information.

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding education to new mothers and families per AAP guidelines.
• Assist with management of patients with complex breastfeeding problems.
• Provide lactation discharge teaching and resources for ongoing support.
• Educate within Childbirth Education Program scope and offer post-discharge consultation.
• Create policies and procedures within Breastfeeding scope.
