St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking a Lactation Consultant RN to champion breastfeeding education and support within the Breastfeeding Program. The role includes training maternal nursing staff and providing education to new mothers and families per AAP guidelines.

The RN Specialist will collaborate with the nursing team to ensure accurate post-discharge lactation support and continuous education across the childbirth program.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school with Nursing Diploma, Associate's Degree or higher level education required
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
• 1+ year of nursing experience in Women's Services required

Responsabilités

• Provide breastfeeding education to new mothers and families based on current AAP guidelines and recommendations
• Assist with the management of patients with complex breastfeeding problems
• Provide lactation discharge teaching instruction and resources for on-going lactation support
• Provide education within the scope of the Childbirth Education Program as well as continued consultation to patients who are in need of services post-discharge
• Be responsible for creating policies and procedures within the scope of Breastfeeding

Formation

Nursing Diploma/Associate's Degree or higher

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
