Job description

Position Summary

The RN/Internal Agency is a temporary full‑time assignment working on various units. This 13‑week assignment is paid at $70.00 per hour. The RN is responsible for nursing care of patients requiring specialized judgment and skill, based on knowledge of natural, behavioral, nursing sciences, and humanities, applying the nursing process in both wellness and illness care. The RN models appropriate behavior in line with MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

Responsibilities
  • Provide practice excellence through specialized nursing assessment, care, evaluation, and education to patients and families in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Promote evidence‑based practice by using research to develop, implement, and evaluate process standards, such as plans of care, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Provide leadership excellence in the clinical practice area.
  • Demonstrate commitment to learning excellence through professional development and clinical expertise.
  • Demonstrate role clarity through professional competence, expertise, and knowledge, and support the nursing profession through role modeling and fostering an environment of growth and learning.
  • Promote cultural excellence with recognition and appreciation for cultural, ethnic, and generational diversity.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (RN)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care environment
Licensure and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support – American Heart Association
  • Registered Nurse, Tennessee – Tennessee Board of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse, Arkansas – Arkansas State Board of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse, Mississippi – Mississippi Board of Nursing
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP (required based on specialty assigned)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Analytical skills to assess complex patient conditions and develop comprehensive plans of care.
  • Capable of synthesizing multiple sources of information to assist in the resolution of human responses to complex problems.
  • Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts, and techniques central to the nursing profession.
Supervision

The registered nurse directs and delegates all patient care activities on nursing units.

Physical Demands
  • Climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • Physical requirements include exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • Requires close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
