Job summary

Western State Hospital in Staunton, VA, invites applications for RN-II Shift Supervisor. The role supports 24/7 psychiatric care, supervising nursing staff and providing direct patient care in a therapeutic setting.

Qualifications

• Must have a Current RN license eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Must be a current employee of Western State Hospital with one year combined time (6 months with a recommendation)
• Must have previous psych nursing experience
• Ability to delegate and supervise nursing staff; effective communication
• Ability to participate in interdisciplinary team; assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
• Ability to work overtime due to staffing emergencies in a 24/7 psychiatric hospital
• Complete annual competency training including TOVA III with restraints and BLS

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver quality nursing care.
• Maintain accountability in a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Foster healthy interpersonal interactions on multiple units.
• Observe and report feedback on interventions, treatments, behaviors, and wellbeing.
• Document and communicate patient status and responses.
• Utilize training to promote mental wellness recovery
