Western State Hospital in Staunton, VA seeks an experienced RN-II Shift Supervisor to oversee nursing care for adult psychiatric patients on Oak/Elm/Pine/Hickory units across 1st-3rd shifts, with an emphasis on safety and therapeutic care.

The role requires Virginia RN licensure, prior psych nursing experience, and ability to lead an interdisciplinary team within a 24/7 hospital. Competitive state benefits apply to eligible employees.

Formación

• Current RN license eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Must be a current employee of WSH with combined employment time of 1 year (waived to 6 months with a supervisor recommendation).
• Must have previous psych nursing experience.
• Ability to delegate and supervise nursing staff; effective communication.
• Ability to participate in interdisciplinary team; assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
• Ability to work overtime due to staffing emergencies in a 24/7 psychiatric hospital.
• Complete annual competency training including TOVA III with restraints.
• Complete and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
• Demonstrates knowledge of recovery/trauma informed care.

Responsabilidades

• Maintaining accountability in a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment.
• Creating healthy interpersonal interactions on adult acute admissions unit, geriatric unit, and extended rehabilitation service unit.
• Observing and reporting feedback regarding interventions, treatments, behaviors, physical and emotional wellbeing, and other situations.
• Documenting and communicating.
• Using specialized training for promoting mental wellness recovery.
