Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers seeks a Nurse Shift Supervisor (2nd Shift) for Southern Va Mental Health Inst. This RN-led role plans, directs, and coordinates patient care during the 3:00–11:30 p.m. shift, supervising 65–95 staff across a 24/7 psychiatric unit.

Requires Virginia RN license, driver’s license, and nursing management experience. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered for new state service employees who stay one year.

Qualifications

• Licensed or license eligible as a Registered Nurse in Virginia
• Valid driver’s license
• Previous nursing management and/or Shift Administrator experience
• Extensive work experience in psychiatric nursing
• Comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric nursing principles and adult patient care

Responsibilities

• Supervise and schedule nursing staff for shift
• Oversee admissions and discharges on shift
• Coordinate patient transportation and staffing needs
• Utilize EHR, scheduling, and reporting systems
• Respond to emergency codes and lead nursing interventions
